Lovely Letters: 9 Cross-Stitch Alphabets & Monograms

  • Annie’s Attic

Personalization or monograming has been around for thousands of years. It appears on currency, insignias, and clothing, and it has been used on embroideries for centuries. From linens and clothing to baby items and household goods, putting one’s initial or initials on something imparts a unique classic style. Add a single letter for personalization or a traditional three-letter monogram to items like hand towels, photo albums, or pillows. Personalize shirts, scarves, bookmarks, or tote bags.

There are so many ways you can use alphabets in your cross stitch projects. With this book, you will never have to hunt for a different alphabet style to use.

There are nine different ones listed from elegant and exquisite styles to fun and funky and finally clean and classic. Use them on anything you want to have letters.

The projects they show with each alphabet has a skill level, materials needed, stitch count and design size. Each also has a green box called “Make it your Own” that gives a suggestion of other ideas and projects.

The charts, done in black and white, are clear and large enough for older eyes to see. There is a section all about how to stitch. It contains how to do the stitches and talks about fabrics, needles, floss and how to work from a chart. The final section is finishing instructions for the projects given.

I can’t wait to pick up my needles and create my next project.

This book includes that chart for the letters. The alpha characters are not as fancy as other books, but alpha characters are easy to use. I find them easy to use and work great for some hardanger embroidery projects.
